Come take a stroll or a jog, bring a friend or your dog, fly a kite or ride your bike at Suwanee's Town Center Park. Suwanee’s “front yard,” the 10-acre Town Center Park, located at the intersection of Buford Highway and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, is the community's primary gathering space for special events.
Town Center Park features one mile of strolling and rolling surfaces with three interlinking elliptical pathways and sidewalks; more than 200 maple, gum, sycamore, and oak trees; four garden areas; park benches and traditional light poles; and a terraced amphitheater seating area with capacity for 1,000. Its amphitheater stage provides a backdrop for concerts and other performances that draw audiences from around the region.
The park will anchor a mixed-use downtown-style development, Suwanee’s new Town Center, which currently is under construction. Directions
It’s time to run...walk...pedal...stroll...and roll! The Suwanee Creek Greenway is a hard-surface, multipurpose trail that meanders through four miles of wooded areas, wetlands, and wildlife habitat. The original trail was constructed in the early 1990s; a three-mile extension was opened in May 2004. The greenway connects nearly 400 acres of parkland as well as residential and commercial areas.
Walkers, joggers, bikers, rollerbladers, and others can access the trail at a variety of locations. The trailhead is located at Suwanee Creek Park, 1170 Buford Highway. Other access points are:
Near the Suwanee Sports Academy at 3640 Burnette Road.
Martin Farm Park, about a half-mile west of Satellite Boulevard.
Suwanee Elementary School, on weekends and after 4 p.m. during the week only.
George Pierce Park, near the soccer and back softball fields.
Relax, enjoy nature at Suwanee Creek Park
Located at 1170 Buford Highway, near the City’s southern limit, Suwanee Creek Park, is a passive recreation area ideal for family picnics and reunions; it’s also the trailhead for the Suwanee Creek Greenway. The 85-acre Suwanee Creek Park, which has been left substantially in its natural condition, serves as the primary parking area and access point for the greenway. About 100 parking spaces are available at Suwanee Creek Park, which also features additional hard- and soft-surface trails, two pavilions, picnic tables, grills, public restrooms, and open meadow areas. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. Directions
Many area children have dubbed Suwanee’s new super playground structure “the playground that my mommy and daddy built.” That’s because more than 1,200 volunteers cumulatively worked nearly 10,000 hours over five days last summer to turn two tractor trailer loads of materials and equipment into one wonderful playground for the children of Suwanee.
Located at 425 Main Street in historic Old Town, PlayTown Suwanee features a magical bus, castle, log cabin, boat, elephant, rocket, climbing wall, bridges, slides, and swing sets. The playground is open from sunup to sundown. Directions
Suwanee has several other attractive parks as well.
